In bulk, doth make Man better be,
Or standing as an oak, three hundred year,
To fall a log at last, dry, bold and sere.
Meanings : Growing (ग्रोइंग) = developing, विकसित होना।
Bulk (बल्क) = आकार।

Oak (ओक) = a forest tree, शाहबलूत का पेड़।
Log (लॉग) = लकड़ी का लट्ठा।
Dry (ड्राई) = सूखा हुआ।

हिन्दी अनुवाद - किसी पेड़ के समान आकार में बढ़ जाना ही मानव को श्रेष्ठ नहीं बनाता है और न ही तीन सौ साल तक खड़ा रह कर और अन्त में सुखकर लकड़ी के लट्ठे की भाँति गिर जाने वाले ओक (शाहबलूत) वृक्ष के समान जीवित रहने वाला व्यक्ति ही श्रेष्ठ होता है।
