Background of the Poem : कवि  Thomas Carew आध्यात्मिक सौंदर्य की प्रसंसा करता है और शारिरिक सौंदर्य की भर्त्सना करता है। शारिरिक सौंदर्य समय

के साथ नष्ट हो जाता है और प्रेम की तीव्रता कम हो जाता है। आध्यात्मिक सौंदर्य में स्थिरता, सज्जनता व मानसिक शांति निहित है। यह प्रेमी को प्रेरणा देता है और उसको उत्साह एवं नव बल प्रदान करता है।

Central Idea of the poem : 

In the poem, " The True Beauty" the poet Thomas Carew says that the beautiful lips, cheeks, and eyes make a woman more beautiful. But these things are mortal. They decay with the passes of time. On the contrary, love based on good qualities of character and mutual affection is permanent. Beauty of character is true beauty.

हिन्दी अनुवाद― कविता में, "द ट्रू ब्यूटी " कवि थॉमस कैरव कहते हैं कि सुंदर होंठ, गाल और आँखें एक महिला को और अधिक सुंदर बनाती हैं।  लेकिन ये चीजें नश्वर हैं।  वे समय के बीतने के साथ नष्ट  हो जाते हैं।  इसके विपरीत, चरित्र और पारस्परिक स्नेह के अच्छे गुणों पर आधारित प्रेम स्थायी है।  चरित्र की सुंदरता ही सच्ची सुंदरता है।
