My Struggle For an Education "SUMMARY OF THE LESSON"

Introduction : Booker T. Whasington was a poor Negro boy of America. In his early life, he had to struggle hard for his education. when he grew up he became a reformer and leader of American Negroes. Here he tells us how he got admission to the Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute.

परिचय: बुकर टी. वाशिंगटन अमेरिका के एक गरीब नीग्रो लड़के थे। अपने प्रारंभिक जीवन में, उन्हें अपनी शिक्षा के लिए कठिन संघर्ष करना पड़ा। जब वह बड़ा हुआ तो वह अमेरिकी नीग्रो का सुधारक और नेता बन गया। यहां उन्होंने हमें बताया कि कैसे उन्हें हैम्पटन नॉर्मल एंड एग्रीकल्चर इंस्टीट्यूट में प्रवेश मिला।

The author hears about a good achool : The author was a Negro. He worked in a coal mine. One day two miners were talking about a great school for coloured people. He heard them. This school was much better than the little school of their town.

लेखक एक अच्छे पूर्वकाल के बारे में सुनता है: लेखक एक नीग्रो था। उन्होंने एक कोयला खदान में काम किया। एक दिन दो खनिक रंगीन लोगों के लिए एक महान स्कूल के बारे में बात कर रहे थे। उसने उन्हें सुना। यह स्कूल उनके शहर के छोटे स्कूल से बहुत बेहतर था।
Attraction for the school : He was highly attracted by the description of the school. It was the Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute in Virginia. He made up his mind to go there. This was his ambition. He was much excited and thought of it at every time.

स्कूल के लिए आकर्षण: वह स्कूल के विवरण से बहुत आकर्षित था। यह वर्जीनिया में हैम्पटन सामान्य और कृषि संस्थान था। उसने वहाँ जाने का मन बनाया। यह उनकी महत्वाकांक्षा थी। वह हर समय बहुत उत्साहित और इसके बारे में सोचते थे।

Starts on his journey : He decided to try in the autumn of 1872. His mother thought that he would gain nothing. She agreed half-heartedly. He had very little money. Though his brother John helped him with money. But it was not a great deal.
At last he started for Hampton. He had a few clothes in a bag; His mother was very ill and weak, but she was brave at the parting.

अपनी यात्रा पर शुरू होता है: उसने 1872 की शरद ऋतु में कोशिश करने का फैसला किया। उसकी मां ने सोचा कि वह कुछ भी हासिल नहीं करेगी। वह आधे मन से राजी हो गई। उसके पास बहुत कम पैसे थे। हालांकि उनके भाई जॉन ने पैसे से उनकी मदद की। लेकिन यह कोई बड़ी बात नहीं थी।

At Richmond : The author lived at Malden. Hampton is about five hundred miles from Malden. He walked and begged rides in wagons and cars. After same days he reached Richmond. Hampton was still about eight-two miles away from there.


रिचमंड में: लेखक माल्डेन में रहता था। हैम्पटन माल्डेन से लगभग पाँच सौ मील दूर है। वह वैगनों और कारों में सवार हो गया। वह उसी दिन रिचमंड में पहुंचे। हैम्पटन अभी भी वहाँ से लगभग बयासी  मील दूर था।

Difficulties at Richmond : He had no money and he knew nobody in Richmond. He asked at several places for lodging but he could not get it withuot money. So he walked the streets.

He was very tired after the midnight. He had no strenght at all. At one place he saw that there was some room under the sidewalk. He crept under it and lay on the ground. He used his bag as a pillow.

रिचमंड में कठिनाइयाँ: उसके पास पैसे नहीं थे और वह रिचमंड में किसी को नहीं जानता था। उसने कई स्थानों पर रहने के लिए कहा लेकिन उसे पैसे नहीं मिले। इसलिए वह सड़कों पर चल दिया।

वह आधी रात के बाद बहुत थका हुआ था। उसके पास कोई स्ट्रगल नहीं था। एक जगह उसने देखा कि फुटपाथ के नीचे कुछ जगह थी। वह उसके नीचे दब गया और जमीन पर लेट गया। उसने अपने बैग को तकिये की तरह इस्तेमाल किया।

Worked as a labourer : The next morning he saw that he was never a large ship. they were unloading pig-iron. The captain, on his request, allowed him to work. He ate breakfast with the money he earned.
The captain was pleased with his work. He allowed the author to work everyday. He worked for a few days. He want on sleeping under the sidewalk.

एक मजदूर के रूप में काम किया: अगली सुबह उसने देखा कि वह एक बड़ा जहाज नहीं था। वे सुअर-लोहे को उतार रहे थे। कप्तान ने उनके अनुरोध पर उन्हें काम करने की अनुमति दी। उसने जो पैसा कमाया, उसके साथ उसने नाश्ता किया।

कप्तान अपने काम से प्रसन्न था। उन्होंने लेखक को हर रोज काम करने की अनुमति दी। उन्होंने कुछ दिनों तक काम किया। वह फुटपाथ के नीचे सोना चाहता है।

Reached Hampton : He saved enough money to reach Hampton. He started again. He reached Hampton. He had only fifty cents. He was happy to see the school building.

पहुंच गए हैम्पटन: उन्होंने हैम्पटन पहुंचने के लिए पर्याप्त धन बचाया। उसने फिर शुरू किया। वह हैम्पटन पहुँच गया। उसके पास केवल पचास सेंट थे। वह स्कूल की इमारत देखकर खुश था।

The Head Teacher : He went to the head teacher to get admission. But he could not impress her, as he was without proper food, bath and clothing for a long time. She was doubtful about his fitness for his admission. He continued to impress her in all the ways.


द हेड टीचर: वह एडमिशन लेने के लिए हेड टीचर के पास गया। लेकिन वह उसे प्रभावित नहीं कर सका, क्योंकि वह लंबे समय तक उचित भोजन, स्नान और कपड़ों के बिना था। वह अपने प्रवेश के लिए अपनी फिटनेस के बारे में संदिग्ध था। वह उसे हर तरह से प्रभावित करता रहा।

The Examination : After some hours the head teacher asked him to sweep the recitation room. He knew that he could get admission if he did this work well. So he accepted it with a great pleasure.

परीक्षा: कुछ घंटों के बाद प्रधान शिक्षक ने उन्हें सस्वर पाठशाला में झाडू लगाने को कहा। वह जानता था कि अगर उसने यह काम अच्छा किया तो उसे दाखिला मिल सकता है। इसलिए उन्होंने इसे बड़े मजे से स्वीकार किया।

Pleased the Head teacher : He swept the recitation room three times. He dusted it four times. He cleaned everything thoroughly. Then the head teacher examined the room. She rubbed her handkerchief on the furniture. But she found no dirt. So she said that she would admit him.

The sweeping of that room was the best examination that he had ever passed.

प्रमुख शिक्षक को प्रसन्न किया: उन्होंने तीन बार सस्वर पाठ कक्ष को बह दिया। उसने उसे चार बार धूल चटा दी। उसने सब कुछ अच्छी तरह से साफ किया। फिर प्रधान शिक्षक ने कमरे की जांच की। उसने अपने रूमाल को फर्नीचर पर रगड़ा। लेकिन उसे कोई गंदगी नहीं मिली। तो उसने कहा कि वह उसे स्वीकार करेगी।

उस कमरे की सफाई सबसे अच्छी परीक्षा थी जो उसने कभी पास की थी।
